From Draussa:

I will sheath my heavy mace in my loop at my belt, laying down my precious weapon seems foolish at this point. I am irritated, anyways. I will put myself between where I perceive danger is coming from and Bobby, however, in a maternal instinctual move. I will remain silent as I do this and go slowly so as not to show aggression of any kind.

Weapons on the ground! I don't care who you are! If you are who you pretend to be, the Baron will decide!

The solider who is obviously the patrol's captain tudely grabs Sven's arm, and before he can react, pulls him away from the others and points his crossbow right to the young noble's head.

"What do you pretend with that dagger?!"

Another of the soldiers steps towards Erdath and pushes the elf on the shoulder with his iron-clothed fist.
- Erdath looses balance and almost falls on his back. - The spell was preparing is instantly lost in the egdes of his mind. The soldier makes a step into Erdath's direction, as if he wanted to kick him...

While Mant begins to laugh crazily, Bobby eyes the soldiers suspiciously and begins to growl...

"That the dagger is of no consequence. Yes, I will be happy to see the Baron. Lead on..."

I will remove it and carefully lay it on the ground as I did the sword and crossbow...

- The soldiers lower their crossbows, but take up your weapons and rudely command you down the vale into the city of tents. - Someone of them brutally pushes Erdath forward; you all feel indeed more like prisoners than like guests or whatever... Is that the way Glendowerians treat common folk?

On your way down the hill, yo first get a sensation how big the military camp you've stumbled into really is.

Around you might well be 5000 soldiers, in their best shape, with enough supplies to survive the winter in the enemy's territory.
Whatever the commanders of these troops are pretending here in Zugzul's cursed lands... It will be huge...

You are brought over the muddy main street of the fort right to the wooden tower you saw earlier.
Indeed, a big shield with the crest of Glendower is hanged right above the entrance. On its sides hang the coats of arms of Blackmoor and Vestfold, but less brilliant, and lower and smaller in size.

On a small stairway leading into the tower's first level sits a big man with dark hair sharpening a broad, dangerous-looking sword. In difference to the subordinates and lower officers that constantly swirl around him, hid armour shimmers golden in the evening sun.

Virgil, why do you cause this uproar?

- But how can this be?! Sven?! Sven Ithamis?!

Bascomb Ungulian, High Advisor of the Regency Council and Baron of Glendower jumps on his feet, as if the heavy armour was just a piece of light cloth and throws away his sword.

He steps towards Sven, and twinkles, as if he could not believe what he is seeing.

[Nor can I...]
Beaming, I will gladly shake hands with the Shield of the North.

"Greetings, my lord. I felt quite a surge of excitement seeing your banner on the battlefield along the road earlier this morning. I had no idea you were going to be here. I suppose that grandfather knew I would have volunteered to join your army, if he had told me you of your plans, as he had other plans for me."

"This is truely an impressive army. Can you share with me a little bit of your plans? Are you here to liberate the Duchy of Ten? Who else is here with you? Is the Baroness with you?"

"I am forgetting myself, may I introduce my traveling companions? This is Lord Erdath Stargloom... Mant Masena... Jigimy... Draussa with our new friend Bobbie... Path Rendar... and finally Brumm..."

Jigimy nudges Draussa with his elbow as they are escorted toward the camp, whispering "Let's not die today, my friend..."

Upon reaching the tower, Jigimy remains silent until introduced by Sven. When my name is mentioned, I offer a flourish of a bow "My lord, pleasure to meet you! I am Jigimy Jogram, bard in search of adventure!.."

Erdath gives a slight bow, not at all happy with the way he has been treated so far, an elf of his position should not be treated as if some commoner, and says simply "my lord"

"My Lord, if you have time, I would love to talk with you; but first, if I may ask, could you have your men return our weapons? And, since it is getting late, could they show my companions where we can make camp for the night?"

[OOC: Is it unusual that the banners of both Blackmoor and the Vestfold (and is it the city of Vestfold or the Earl of Vestfold's banner) should be hanging above the camp? Knowledge nobility]

Path merely nods to Lord Ungulian, confident that, should anything happen, he can get away at a moment's notice. Path moves his eyes over any guards in the room and checks to see how many windows etc. there are, getting the general lay-out of the room printed in his mind.

[You're still outside the tower, in no room, just in front of the building- Indeed, it looks like if the Baron was in the middle of his daily toilet when you were brought to him.Path will notice that, while the Baron looks at you all with a certain inderefence, the soldiers around you are well-cloth, but have the faces of cutthroats.]

No. - Everything looks pretty normal for a Blackmoorian army camp. The really curious thing is the simple existence of this camp in the midlde of enemy territory.

Ungulian's eyes steps away from you like if he had been bitten by a snake.

"How... But... You are dead! - I mean... Holy Gods!!!"

He remains staring at you for a moment, then sighs and waves with his hands.

"Oh, good Sven... Ill things have happened since you disappeared from Newgate.
- I assume your grandfather send you and" for the first time he seems to notice the companions, and nods to them, especially to Erdath,"this party here."

He looks down for a moment, then continues to speak.

"That you come to me so openly means that you have spent a long time undercover... - Virgil, go now. Thank you for your attendance."

The Baron leads his fist to his heart. "Blackmoor!" - And the soldiers respond him with the same gesture and dismiss.

Ungulian cleans his throat.

I have ill news for you. You may better sit down. Page, bring the best wine and some stools. - And then, send for Gawain.
- When this army was crossing the Misauga River two weeks ago, messengers from our good king Uther reached me that -"

The Baron has to stop to speak again.

- Svenson's Freehold had been taken in a nightly assault by thieves from Jackport and Maus.

He puts down his glass and grabbs Sven at the young man's shoulders.

Sven."

He suddenly makes a step over to where the young nobleman still stands.

"No one survived.

Sven's mouth hangs open for a time. His face totally loses its color. Still in Bascomb's grip, he speaks his voice trembling:

"How could this be? Who was there? Tell me!"

[I'll advance this scene a bit faster so you other players don't become bored - but of course, whatever action you have in mind, don't hesitate to perform it, even while the baron keeps focused on Sven.]

Ungulian steps back from Sven again and takes a big draught from his wine, almost like if he wanted to escape this conversation. You all can see that his face is covered with sweat.

"My- my information is still very vague. - I sent my best spies to investigate the circumstances, but - I didn't receive any more news from my agents since we crossed the Misauga River.

- No what King Uther confirmed me himself within a secret message I am not allowed to disclose to you is" - the baron pauses, and puts his right hand over his face, "that Sven, your grandfather, your grandmother, and your parents were killed."

The baron sits down, now with a grim look in his eyes.

"His majesty" Ungulian looks like if he wanted to spit "however gave me no word of your siblings and the other members of your granfathers estate. - They may have survived, but from the horrible way your parents died, I wouldn't count with it.
However - there is a vague possibilty..." He nods to the others and stops in his speech.

Bascomb Ungulian suddenly, and very unexpectedly, grins to Sven, then takes up his sword.

"Some of my scouts reported a troop of armed bandits travelling westwards, taking three young hostages with them in a black carriage. They followed them until the very borders of Starmorgan, but then lost their track in a territory known as the barony of Dustcape, a pirate port, before the war."

The baron hands Sven a map.

Image

[Of course, this is not the map Ungulian gives you, but I wanted to present you an overview map of the area for a time. The Maiden's Tavern is where you started; the Alliance Camp is where you are now. The Lost City is the place of WoT, and the barony of Dustcape is the place Ungulian just mentioned.]

This is deep in the lands of the Afridhi, Sven, and I don't want you to get lost there. But on the other hand, it is your task and your honour to avenge your father and grandfather. But if your sisters and your brother could still be alive...

The baron shakes his head, as if to disturb some bad memories.

I will give you a small escort of my best men to accompany you there. What do you think?

For the first time in a while, he seems to notice that the others are still there.

To you others you seem to be Sven's closest friends right now indeed, you might be the only ones left. In any case, if you choose to accompany him, I promise you three thousand gold coins for each of you if go with him and bring him back safely. That's the least I can do for the son of an old friend.

Sven slumps onto the stool that had been brought with the wine, earlier. You are not sure that Sven has heard anthing that has been said for awhile. He suddenly stands up grabbing the map and says:

"Yes, I will go. I must go!"

However, his face clouds up after he speaks. Tears start streaming down his face. He sits back down and buries his face in his hands sobbing. He is obviously struggling to regain control of himself. After a few minutes he stands again, apparently embarassed by his tears and looks around at the rest of the party.

"Forgive me. I should be stronger than this..."

After Sven starts to fall apart again, Jigimy moves to console him. "Must be devastating, Sven." As he pats his back softly.. "But I am with you. You are an incredibly strong man, Sven. Inspiring...." Jigimy then looks to Draussa & the others, expecting them to add some encouragment.

He then looks to the Baron. In a solemn voice.... "It is unfortunate that you had to bring the terrible news, my lord, but it's better we know."

Sven rubs the tears from his eyes, smearing the grim from the road all over his face. Then he pats Jigimy's hand saying: "Thanks, you are kind..."

Then he turns to the Baron: "My Lord, we will need mounts and a tracker if we are to catch them. Can you provide us with horses and allow one of your scouts to join us as well? I will pay whatever price you ask. I can write you a note against my father's estate which you can redeem when you get home. The scout will be released to rejoin you as soon as we catch up to the villians. I can return the horses afterwards as well, if that is your wish. Where are you headed from here? Where should we expect to find you in a weeks time?"

Turning to the others: "Will you join me? Can you ride a horse? Although it is getting dark I am ready to leave right now. I am sure that I will not be able to sleep until we have caught the villians and rescued my brother and sisters."
